Formal Instruction in Conducting

As Adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Staten Island - CUNY,
Ms. Alexander teaches the majors' class in Conducting. The course covers:
  • fundamentals of gesture
  • score analysis
  • rehearsal techniques
  • history of conducting
She also teaches Advanced Conducting to individual students.

Workshops & Seminars

Ms. Alexander has presented many special workshops and seminars on:

  • Choral Literature
  • Innovative Choral Programming
She has also served as an adjudicator for arts festivals sponsored by the Monmouth County Arts Council (NJ), and the Federation of Greek Orthodox Musicians.

Ms. Alexander teaches conducting privately.
She is an expert at diagnosing movement and offering mechanical advice
to optimize gesture.
She also coaches issues of interpretation, style, and musicianship. 
Her goal is to help each person develop their own style of movement, stressing the ideal of clarity, based on sound fundamentals of gesture.
